Our company's history goes beyond its foundation in 2000. As far back as 20 years ago a group of scientists developed a deep interest in beta-glucans. This interest was sparked by concrete evidence of their beneficial qualities to the immune system.

During the many years of research the Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom was chosen as the source from which highly bioactive beta-(1,3/1,6)-D-glucan could be isolated.

Scientifically, pleuran is the name given to beta-glucan from the Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom. Pleuran was chosen as a company name to symbolise the close relationship that exists between the development of our company and this unique natural bioactive.

Since the establishment of Pleuran our objective was to bring to the general population the benefits of this natural health stimulant.

The objectives were quickly realised. In 2001, using patented production processes, the first consumer product was launched in capsule format under the Imunoglukan® brand. More recently syrup and cream products were added to our consumer range.

Continuing to spread the health benefits of pleuran remains central in our development. This is why we have started supplying our immuno-modulating actives under the brand name PleraSAN to the nutraceutical, food, cosmetic and animal health markets.

The team of scientists that was the catalyst for Pleuran's development is still present today. Their guidance and knowledge is central to the growth and development of our company.
